The smarter E AWARD 2026 Winners Announced in Munich

The winners of The smarter E AWARD 2026 have been announced at the ICM Munich. Awards were presented in five categories — Photovoltaics, Energy Storage, E-Mobility, Smart Integrated Energy, and Outstanding Projects — to pioneers advancing a renewable energy and mobility world. A high-caliber jury selected three winners in each category from a record number of international submissions.

The award helps winning companies gain international recognition. Their solutions focus on key challenges of the energy transition, including the intelligent integration of large-scale renewables into existing infrastructure.

Photovoltaics

• Goldbeck Solar | HeliomatiX: Automated construction system for large-scale PV plants that can cut on-site labor by up to 85%.
• Huawei Technologies | SUN2000-506KTL: High-performance string inverter with nearly 1.5 MW/m³ power density, 506 kW AC output, and over 99% maximum efficiency.
• IED Electronics Solutions | True Wind: Wind monitoring and safety system for single-axis trackers that measures vibration and torsion on each tracker to reduce yield losses and prevent damage.

Energy Storage

• International Power Supply | EXERON CheckMate: Bidirectional inverter for utility-scale BESS with 3.3 MW/m³ power density and grid-forming capability.
• PHENOGY | PHENOGY 1.0 / 1.1: Lithium- and graphite-free sodium-ion BESS with over 10,000 full cycles; Europe’s largest pilot of its kind began operation in Bremen in 2025.
• Sungrow | PowerTitan 3.0: Containerized BESS delivering more than 1.87 MW PCS and 7.14 MWh per 20-foot unit, with 92% round-trip efficiency.

E-Mobility

• HagerEnergy | edsn: V2G-capable bidirectional DC charger linking home power, EVs, and the electricity market.
• LEM International | DCES Series: Plug-and-play DC energy meter for fast and megawatt charging, including electric trucks.
• Tritium Power Solutions | TRI-FLEX: Modular fast-charging platform with DC-coupled BESS, up to 3.2 MW DC and 64 vehicles at once.

Smart Integrated Energy

• Meins | CSET: Ultra-compact high-voltage substation for smart grids, solar, wind, and BESS.
• Stem | PowerTrack EMS: Edge-to-cloud energy management system for large PV, storage, and hybrid plants, with 99.99% uptime.
• The Mobility House Energy | V2G Flex Platform: Software ecosystem connecting EVs, bidirectional chargers, utilities, and energy markets.

Outstanding Projects

• Fluence | DTEK storage portfolio in Ukraine: Six remotely commissioned utility-scale BESS plants providing emergency power for 600,000 households.
• Schoonschip | Schoonschip VPP: Amsterdam energy community of 46 homes using solar, storage, and heat pumps, with up to 80 kW of flexibility.
• SMA Altenso | Green hydrogen plant in Namibia: Africa’s first fully integrated solar-powered green hydrogen plant, combining PV, 5.9 MWh storage, and a 5 MW electrolyzer.
